Non-profits impact Detroit as few other cities across America which is why Harvard has been helping to train area CEOs to more effectively lead their organizations.

Richard Shapack, principal at Shapack Gurrola PLC, and board chair of the Harvard Business School Club of Michigan,  talks with Carol Cain, Senior Producer/Host of "Michigan Matters" and discusses why they have chosen dozens of local CEOs to send to their school to learn more.

Juanita Moore, president and CEO of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History, talks about her time in the Harvard program.

And she shares the latest on the finances of the museum.

Dan Carmody, who runs Eastern Market, discusses the latest at the venerable east side establishment.

Carmody also talks about his time in the Harvard program which he attended last year along with Moore.

And Mary Treder Lang, vice president of development programs at Vista Maria, discusses her recent transition from corporate America to philanthropy.

It's a growing trend as more mid-career executives are doing the same, said Treder Lang, also a regent at Eastern Michigan University.
