MDOT Seeks Comments On Transportation Plans

The Michigan Department of Transportation is taking your thoughts and input on roadwork and other tentative projects in their five year transportation plan.

The document spells out all of MDOT's investment strategies, funding assumptions and economic benefits for roadways, public transit, rail, air and bicycle trails.

Among the local projects in the 5-year plan are widening and repaving I-75 from Royal Oak to Bloomfield Hills, repairing and widening I-94 from Connor Avenue to I-96 in Detroit, and working on Eight Mile road from the Southfield Freeway to Telegraph.

A statement from MDOT says from a public perspective, this year's project list is especially important. The first through the fourth years of proposed road and bridge projects will be incorporated into MDOT's 2014-2017 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), a planning process states are required to complete to receive federal transportation funding.
