Matt Dery's Daily Update 2-11-11

The Pistons making a ton of news today, the team has expected announces that Dennis Rodman will have his jersey number 10 retired at halftime of their April 1st game against the Chicago Bulls. Rodman in a statement thru his manager says his only regret is that Chuck Daly can't be there with him. For this honor the Pistons also say that on that night a 200 level ticket and Dennis t-shirt will go for just 25 dollars.

Crain's Detroit Business now along with the Free Press reporting that the Pistons sale is tentatively complete with Karen Davidson set to hand the keys to the Palace over to California billionaire and MSU grad Tom Gores. The report says it's going to Gores for $420 million. Meantime Ben Wallace told the media after shoot around this morning that Mrs. Davidson has been up front and honest with the players in telling them that she doesn't have the drive to own the team like her late husband. Tonight the Heat are in town which is a sellout at the Palace.

Red Wings travel to Boston to face the Bruins tonight. The B's goalie Tim Thomas says he grew up a huge fan and can't wait for this one.
