Scratch off one name for the Tigers potential list of replacements for Victor Martinez. Former Tiger Carlos Pena has decided to return to the Tampa Bay Rays. The first baseman has reportedly signed a one-year deal worth $7 million with Tampa. Pena spent last year with the Cubs and hit 28 home runs and drove in 80.
The Pistons return home for the next two and looking to snap a three game losing streak. Memphis provides the opposition; the Grizzlies have won four in a row to get to 7-6 on the season, doing all of this without Zach Randolph. Pistons are thin at guard: Rodney Stuckey is out to rest his sore groin, Will Bynum reaggravated a foot injury today. The team has signed Walker Russell from Ft. Wayne of the D-League.
