Matt Dery's Daily Update 1-11-12

Crisler Arena has become a tough place to play for Michigan opponents. The Wolverines have won 11 in a row at home. Tonight the No. 13 Michigan Wolverines welcomes in the Northwestern Wildcats. The Cats improved at 11-4, but they have lost 3 of their last 4.

The Tigers and Cubs are linked again. Reports out of Chicago say that veteran reliever Kerry Wood is in a contract squabble with the Cubs and now is talking to the Tigers about a possible reported one year deal. Reports say Wood wants $4 million this season. Earlier this fall, Wood had said that it would be the Cubs or retirement. Foxsports.com is reporting that Wood and the Cubs are now working on a new one year deal.

Some local college seniors are headed to post season All-Star games. MSU QB Kirk Cousins will play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile Alabama on January 28th. A week earlier Michigan will be represented in the East West Shrine Game with Junior Hemingway and Kevin Koger participating.
