DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Marky Mark is pulling for Detroit.
In an interview with late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon, actor Mark Wahlberg was asked about shooting his latest movie, "Transformers 4," in the Motor City.
"Detroit is not what people think," said Wahlberg. "My wife was terrified to come to Detroit. She was like, 'We just heard they just went bankrupt. I don't wanna go to Detroit to vacation for two weeks with the kids in the middle of the summer.'
"And I said, actually, no, it's really nice. And they came and had a blast. Detroit is a great, great city ... Hopefully people continue to bring more business there and help the economy there," he said.
Fallon responded, "Absolutely ... I love Detroit, too."
"I love the city ... great people. I hope they turn it around," added Wahlberg, who stayed in Birmgham while filming in the city and elsewhere in Michigan this summer. "Art, music, food — everything's great."
Fallon mentioned he's a fan of Slow's Barbecue.
Filming for the yet-to-be-titled Transformers movie began filming in downtown Detroit and surrounding suburbs just about the time the city filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection.
This is the third Transformers movie to use Michigan as a backdrop. In March, the Michigan Film Office said the state approved an incentive of $20 million on $81,933,992 of projected in-state spending for the project.
