Man Who Impregnated 11-Year-Old Girl To Spend Decades In Prison

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - A 29-year-old Michigan man who sexually assaulted and impregnated his girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 25 to 56 years in prison.

Trevaun Brooks of Warren pleaded guilty to first-degree and second-degree criminal sexual conduct on Aug. 28, the day his trial was set to begin.

He was sentenced Thursday by Macomb County Circuit Judge Mary Chrzanowski in Mount Clemens.

Prosecutors said Brooks had sex with the child last year while he was living with the girl and her mother, his then-girlfriend, at their Mount Clemens home. Brooks also worked briefly as a janitor at the girl's charter school before his arrest in September.

The girl, who gave birth last August at a Macomb County hospital, said she didn't know she was pregnant until she had the baby.

The now 12-year-old girl and her baby are under the care of child protective services.
