A shooting in Rochester Hills has sent a 49-year-old man to the hospital.  It happened at about 2 p.m. Monday on the 2800 block of Grant near Auburn Road.

Officials say the victim suffered a single gun shot wound. 

"We're not exactly sure what happened, but there was a man who lives on Grant Street who was shot with a semi-automatic handgun," said Oakland County Under Sheriff Mike McCabe.

"When [police] arrived at the scene, they were actually met by the suspect who waved them down and surrendered at that point in time," he said.

The victim has been reported in serious condition at an area hospital.

Meantime, a 56-year-old Rochester Hills man is in custody and officials say they have the suspect's weapon.
