Man Dies After Falling Into Manhole
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 60-year-old man has died after falling into an uncovered manhole while trying to retrieve his dropped keys.
It happened Thursday morning in the 1100 block of Seward near the Lodge Freeway and West Grand Blvd. in Detroit.
Police say witnesses saw the man fall head first into the hole and get stuck. He was rescued by EMS crews and taken to Henry Ford Hospital where he died.
The man has been identified by local TV stations as Jerome Edwards.
It wasn't immediately known how he died. An autopsy was planned.
