Local Library Honored At White House

It's a big deal for a local library.  First Lady Michelle Obama is presenting the 2010 National Medal for Museum and Library Service to the West Bloomfield Township Public Library.

It's one of five museums and five libraries to be honored at a White House ceremony.  Cameron Thomas Shah is the community spokesman for the West Bloomfield library. He explains why he was chosen to help accept the award:

"Basically the library was my second home growing up in W. Bloomfield, I got the phone ...saying ,'Cameron, we'd really like you come and be our community spokesman because you have so much history', I actually worked there throughout high school as computer tech."

The West Bloomfield Main Library and its branch circulated more than 2.6 million items last fiscal year, making it one of the busiest libraries in Michigan.
