Lions Working Out Together Again

The Lions began their second set of player workouts taking place this week (June 6) at Birmingham Detroit Country Day High School.

Notable participants were wide receiver Titus Young and running back Mikel Leshoure, both second-round picks. Young was at the previous workouts, but this is the first time for Leshoure.

Said quarterback Matthew Stafford, "I'm happy they're here. We're going to try to make it as easy on them as possible and then catch them up to speed as much as we can."

"I thought we got a lot of work done today," Leshoure said. "I had a cramp earlier, so I sat out a little bit toward the end of the workout, but I got a little bit of the mental part down. We'll probably get some work in Wednesday, when more guys get here and we get a little bit more time."

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh hasn't been at any of the workouts, nor has first-round pick, defensive tackle Nick Fairley.

Said center Dominic Raiola of Suh's absence, "He'll be here. Whoever doesn't show up is not being looked at as guys that are dodging this, or non-team players. Everybody's still going to be looked at the same. Nobody's going to be like, 'You weren't here. You're a step behind.' It's nothing like that. It's totally voluntary."

"I just texted with him a few times," said defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. "He's got a lot of stuff going on. I don't know if he's coming in later in the week or not. I'd be happy to see him."

Vanden Bosch isn't worried about Suh being in shape. He said, "One good thing with Suh is, he showed it last year, and obviously he showed it throughout his college career: He's one of the hardest workers I've been around. You know he's working out, you know he's in shape. Last time I saw him, he had shoulder surgery right after the season, and he was as strong as ever, in great shape."
