ALLEN PARK (CBS DETROIT) - The Detroit Lions placed right tackle LaAdrian Waddle on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season.
Waddle suffered a knee injury in Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings and had to be carted off the field. He had missed four games earlier in the season - three because of a calf injury and one while recovering from a concussion.
Filling in for Waddle will be rookie Cornelius Lucas, who has done so at various times throughout the season. Lions center Dominic Raiola said after Sunday's game that he believes in Lucas even as he hurts for Waddle.
"That's a big loss," Raiola said. "That's our guy out there, and it sucks for him. We're going to hurt for him, but we're totally confident in 77. He's had game experience I don't know how many weeks this year. We look at him as a starter, and he goes out there, transforms into the starter, and I'm happy for him, for his opportunity."
