Lions Have Makings Of Solid Defensive Front

It was part of the sales pitch Lions coach Jim Schwartz delivered to veteran defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch at the start of free agency.
The goal was to build a "dominant defensive line," as Vanden Bosch recalls. And now, as the Lions roster takes shape heading into next season, the pieces are starting to fall into place just like Schwartz said they would.
In addition to signing Vanden Bosch, the Lions traded for defensive tackle Corey Williams and used their No. 2 pick last week on Ndamukong Suh, who arrived at the team's practice facility Thursday in advance of a three-day rookie minicamp that begins today.
"When you're a defensive coordinator, guys like that really help because they're hard to block one-on-one," Schwartz said of Suh. "You don't have to scheme something up to win; you can win individual matchups, and we need to get there. ...
