Lions' Creative Defensive-Line Sets Befuddle Foes
Gunther Cunningham knew a congratulatory phone call from Mike Shanahan was coming. The friends have exchanged well-wishes after coaching against each other for years.
But after the Lions beat the Redskins on Sunday, Cunningham, the Lions' defensive coordinator, also got an e-mail from Washington general manager Bruce Allen.
"That's why we coach and play," Cunningham said Thursday. "A lot of people think it's about money -- it's about respect. When the opposing coach or the opposing president calls you and says you kicked our whatever, that makes you feel pretty good."
