Leyland Takes Lefty Hitters To Task
First it was right-handed hitters not being able to solve left-handers and now the lefties' inability to do anything with right-handers is stalling out the Detroit offense.
Phil Hughes stymied the Tigers on four hits and eight strikeouts over nine innings Sunday in a 5-1 victory by the New York Yankees.
Detroit's only run came on a solo home run by Prince Fielder in the fourth.
"He was consistently able to work inside, with authority," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.
