Kowalski Co. Silent About Possible Move

It's been a Hamtramck mainstay for nearly a century, but there's word that the Kowalski Meat Packing and Sausage plant on Holbrook could be moving out.  Word is that Madison Heights is a potential new home.  Daniel Perkins has lived in Hamtramck for 39 years and he'd hate to see them go.

"It will be catastrophic, because here is a business that is successful, a tax payer, (has a) main stake in the city, a fixture in the city, when you say Hamtramck, you think 'Kowalski'." Perkins said.

Years ago, there was word the company was leaving for Livonia, but stayed put.  Hamtramck's city manager confirms there are talks about Kowalski, but the company isn't commenting.
