The NBA draft is this Thursday and the Pistons have yet to hire a head coach. A lot of Piston fans are concerned by this and think it is important to have a coach before the draft. Normally this may be true but not in this case. The sale of the Pistons to Tom Gores has delayed the process of "normal" basketball operations. At this point, the Pistons must take their time and hire the absolute best person they can for the job. Meanwhile, the scouting department and Joe Dumars do their job and draft the best available player they can with the 8th pick. Whoever the Pistons hire and draft they must be able to complement each other for this franchise to have any kind of bright future. Now this isn't "normal" protocol but then again what has been with this team lately?
