Khang's Blog: UFC 126 Predictions
This weekend isn't just big because of the Super Bowl it's also very exciting if you're an MMA fan. UFC 126 is this Saturday and has three great fights on the card. Let's get right to my picks! Here we go...
Main event- Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Belfort has publicly said he wants to stand and strike with Silva and if this holds true could make for some great fireworks. The only problem is many fighters have said this before and then tend to change their game plan once in the ring with Silva. But if anything in Silva's last fight he showed us he is human and can be hit. Also don't underestimate the fact that Silva is getting older and his chin is not what it used to be. If Belfort were to land a clean shot I wouldn't be surprised if Silva went down. With that being said Silva also showed us the heart of a champion in his last fight and to be the champ you have to beat the champ which no one in the UFC has yet to do. I'll take the champ.
My Pick: Anderson Silva
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
This is a battle of two former champions and two octagon veterans. Both of whom are looking to try and once again climb the light heavyweight ladder. Franklin won his last fight vs. Chuck Liddell with a K.O. in the 1st round. But before the knockout he was clearing losing the fight. I think his age will catch up with him in this fight and combined with Griffin's relentless style Franklin will lose in an entertaining fight by decision.
My Pick: Forrest Griffin
Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader
This might be the best fight of the night. Two very young and exciting fighters will meet early in their careers with the winner most likely shooting up the light heavyweight division looking for a title shot. Bader has a very good wrestling base and Jones has extremely exciting and unorthodox striking style. I look for Jones to keep it in on the feet and knockout Bader in the 2nd round.
My Pick: Jon Jones
