Karsch's Blog: Fairley Is Scary

Nick Fairley is scary. Scary good and scary bad. Fairley showed he can dominate at the point of attack and was portrayed by some as a poor-man's Ndamukong Suh. But he also turned some teams off during the interview process and with a questionable work ethic. What is he going to be now that he has struck it rich? A harder worker?

This reminds me a lot of a modern day version of Mike Williams. What should be a wealth of riches at one position turns into a disaster because the guy you took, with a redundant pick, didn't have the motor to be an elite NFL player. Many believe that with Fairley studying in the same room with Kyle Vanden Bosch, a pro's-pro, will teach Fairley how to be successful at this level. But if that were the case, Albert Haynesworth wouldn't be such a knucklehead after spending years with Vanden Bosch and Pac Man Jones would have benefitted by mere locker room osmosis.

But if Fairley is coachable, and has some desire, the Lions defensive line could be just flat out redonkulous.
