K2 Bust Quickly Follows Ban In Roseville

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Just hours after Macomb County banned the sale of designer drugs, two Roseville store owners are accused of selling them.

As Monday's ban went into effect, Roseville police visited several stores known to be selling K2, Spice, bath salts and similar items in the past.

When officers arrived at Smokers Alley on Gratiot, north of I-696, they found the synthetic marijuana still for sale.

Police said they also found marijuana and a gun.

Both men were arrested. They are free pending charges  by the Macomb County Prosecutors Office. Their names have not yet been released.

Police said the K2 that was seized would be destroyed.

There has been a wave of activity in Michigan and nationwide this week aimed at eliminating the products. Roseville is one of several Metro Detroit communities that have taken action locally as a statewide ban moves through the Michigan legislature.

Ryan Y. of Bloomfield Hills has posted a petition to ban these types of products on the White House official website.
