Jumping The Broom: Entertaining And Laugh-Out-Loud Funny
Jumping the Broom is the kind of movie that really knows how to get movie-goers involved. In a good, laugh-out-loud kind of way.
The name of the movie comes from an African wedding tradition, in which the bride and groom literally jump over a broom to signify their new life together. Jumping the broom is a symbol of the newly-wedded couple's entry into their new life together. It is also used to symbolize fertility and prosperity.
The two families in the movie collide when they come together one weekend for a wedding in Martha's Vineyard. The families – which come from completely different socioeconomic backgrounds – can't seem to agree much on anything. And – since it's not giving anything away that hasn't already been seen in the commercials promoting the film – the groom's mother even goes so far as to threaten to put a stop to the nuptials.
Jumping the Broom is a wonderful movie. It has audiences laughing, cheering and applauding. Don't be surprised if it has the same effect on you.
