It's The '12 Days Of Catmas' At The Humane Society
DETROIT – Sure, every child -- and some parents -- would love a puppy under the Christmas tree, but if you're in the market for a holiday pet think about a little guy who's easily overlooked: An adult cat.
To celebrate the holiday season, the Michigan Humane Society is asking the public to help Santa finish off the Christmas list by adopting some of their longest-tenured residents. From now until Friday, Dec. 23, MHS will feature 12 overlooked cats online as part of the 12 Days of Catmas at www.michiganhumane.org/catmas.
"While most of our adoptable cats find their new homes in less than two weeks, for some it can take a bit longer," said CJ Bentley, MHS senior director of operations. "Maybe they're a bit shy, or perhaps they're a bit older. Whatever the reason, we want to be sure they have a chance to find the loving forever home they deserve and spend the holidays with a family who loves them."
MHS has no time limits or predetermined length of stay for any animal, so while many pets are adopted quickly, others can take weeks or even months to find their forever home. Many of the cats featured as part of the 12 Days of Catmas have been at MHS for at least three months, while some have been at MHS for five months or more. The lack of time limits is part of MHS' commitment to maintaining a 100 percent adoption rate of all healthy animals.
