Interfaith Health Fair At Detroit Mosque

Muslim and Jewish doctors are teaming up to offer free medical screenings for Detroit residents.

The Interfaith Health Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Muslim Center Mosque and Community Center, 1605 W. Davison Avenue, in Detroit.

The fair will provide the screenings for the working poor who don't qualify for government-provided health care or other discounted programs.

The fair marks the second collaboration of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Michigan and the Jewish Community Relations Council. Muslims last Christmas Day joined Jews for Mitzvah Day, their largest annual day of volunteering.

More than 100 health care professionals are expected to serve 300 patients who have registered for the health fair.
