If They Don't Get Close, They Don't Score

When the Pistons were making the Eastern Conference Finals on a regular basis, they lived and died by their jump shooting.

They rarely reached 40 points in the paint in most games, as guards Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton carried the scoring load. Forward Tayshaun Prince also made most of his baskets outside the lane while Rasheed Wallace preferred to hang out at the 3-point line and normally made baseline shots when he did post up.

They're now one of the conference's worst teams, but they've become reliant on inside scoring for the points they manage to score. Despite an 8-21 record, they are outscoring opponents by an average of 40.6-37.9 in the lane.
