I-75 In Detroit To Shut Down This Weekend For M-1 Rail Construction

DETROIT (WWJ) - A section of I-75 in downtown Detroit is being shut down for the weekend so crews can work on the M-1 Rail project.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said both directions of I-75 between the Lodge Freeway and I-375 will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Sunday.

The closure will enable construction crews to set bridge beams at Woodward Avenue as part of the light rail project.

Traffic Impacts

• Northbound I-75 will be closed at the I-75/M-10 (Lodge Freeway)/Rosa Parks Boulevard shared ramp.

• The exit ramps from northbound I-75 to Clark and Livernois avenues will remain open but the entrance ramps will be closed.

• In addition, the eastbound I-96 and M-10 (Lodge Freeway) ramps to northbound I-75 will be closed.

• Southbound I-75 will be closed between I-375 and M-10.

• The ramp from northbound I-375 and southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) will be closed.

Alternate Downtown Routes

• From I-75 North, use I-96 West to I-94 East to I-75. One lane of traffic will remain open from northbound I-75 to M-10 for local traffic.

• From I-75 South, use I-94 West to I-96 East to I-75.
