Jervis B. Webb Hires IT Director: Farmington Hills-based Jervis B. Webb Co., a subsidiary of Daifuku Webb Holding Co. and provider of material handling products and services, has named John Carney as executive director of information technology. His focus is to lead the information technology function in North America. Prior to joining Webb, Carney worked as the IT director for Faurecia, an $18-billion global Tier One automotive supplier. At Faurecia, Carney led all IT functions and teams for its North American operations, including serving and supporting senior management at four manufacturing divisions. Carney's bachelor of science degree is from Lawrence Technological University in mathematics and computer science. He also has a master of science degree in business information technology from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration. Webb develops material handling technology such as automatic guided vehicles, conveyors, baggage handling systems, bulk handling systems and automated storage and retrieval systems. Webb specializes in the design, engineering, installation and support of integrated systems used in the automotive, airport, food and beverage, bulk handling, warehousing and manufacturing industries. Webb is headquartered in Farmington Hills with manufacturing locations in Harbor Springs and Boyne City, Mich.; Carlisle, S.C.; Canada; India; and China. The company was founded in 1919 by Jervis B. Webb, who invented the forged rivetless chain conveyor that helped revolutionize mass production.
