Heat Advisory Through Wednesday Morning
DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan is sizzling, with temperatures pushing into the mid-90s as far north as the western Upper Peninsula. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday for the entire region.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach the lower 90s Monday and Tuesday across Southeast Michigan. Nighttime temperatures will not fall off much with readings likely holding in the 70s.
Forecasters say the combination of high heat and humidity will cause the heat index to push 100 degrees Monday and the middle 90s on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service reminds residents that the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity can combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room; stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
