Honda Recalling Fit Small Car
Honda's recalling about 143 thousand 2007 and 2008 Honda Fit subcompacts, because of a problem that could cause their low beams to fail.
A news release from Honda describes the problem this way.
- Due to a problem with the routing of the wiring harness for the headlight control switch, the plating on the wiring harness connectors for the low-beam circuit can become worn after repeated use. Worn plating on the connectors could result in corrosion and cause the connector to overheat and fail, resulting in a loss of low-beam headlight functionality. The high-beam headlight circuit and function are not affected. No accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue.
Honda will start sending out recall notices next month. Owners will be told to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer to be inspected. If needed, the dealer will replace the wiring harness terminal, and the wiring harness connector will be secured in place. If any signs of damage in the connector exist, the dealer will replace the headlight switch.
Starting next month, Honda will have a special web site and phone number to give owners more information on recalls. They can go to www.recalls.honda.com or call (800) 999-1009, and select option 4.
