Help Wanted: DDOT Looking To Hire Mechanics, Bus Drivers

DETROIT (WWJ) - DDOT is putting out the help wanted sign.

Detroit's city-wide bus system is looking to hire a number of qualified mechanics and bus drivers to fill several open positions. DDOT mechanics can earn upwards of $18 a hour, while bus drivers can earn $11.50 to $15.93 an hour.

To qualify for the general auto mechanic position, applicants must:

· Be 21 years of age or older
· Possess a valid state driver's license
· Have earned a high school diploma or GED
· Have two years of heavy-duty diesel repair experience
· Be a team player

To qualify as a bus driver (transportation equipment operator), applicants must:

· Be 18 years of age or older
· Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
· Have earned a high school diploma or GED
· Have an abundance of people-friendly skills
