Greg Monroe Talks About The NBA Rookie Game

The Detroit Pistons have a chance to gain some ground in the East as they get ready for a game with the Sixers on Saturday night. Currently Detroit is 11 and 24 which is 3 games behind Philly for the eighth and final postseason spot in the conference. Of course even though the season is the number one focus for all players, it is only natural for some to be thinking about other things, especially if one of those players is a rookie and has a chance to play in the All Star Weekend Rookie-Sophmore game in Los Angeles. That player is Greg Monroe who admitted to the media today at practice that the game is a goal of his. "It's something that I would love to be a part of, it would be a great achievement so it's something that I'm really looking forward to."

Pistons Head Coach John Kuester was peppered with questions about his first year player Monroe saying "he is a very intelligent basketball player, he understands how to play the game. Getting an opportunity to get his feet wet throughout this entire season has resulted in ups and downs but I will tell you this, his heart is in the right place and everyday he wants to get better." Monroe claims if he just continues to improve then he thinks he will get a chance to play in that game against some of the best second year players in the league the weekend of February 18th through the 21st.
