GM Hosts 'Ride N Drive' Event Friday

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's a chance to drive a brand new car without the pressure of a salesperson nipping at your heels.

General Motors is hosting a "Ride N Drive" event Friday afternoon the Clark Street Technology Park in southwest Detroit.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with event organizer Amanda Schmidke.

"We are going to have about 30 General Motors vehicles, everything from the Volt to the Camaro and the truck line and everything else," said Schmidke. "The cars are all gonna be available for test drive and you can test drive as many as you'd like to."

"I have four Camaros, I have some of the convertibles and I have some with the sport package, the SS package on  them, so they'll be nice and fast," she said.

Schmidke said test drivers will follow a 5-mile route from Clark Street to Michigan Ave. to Rosa Park and back.

The event takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ideal Group on Clark Street.  To participate, you must have a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years old. There will also be refreshments and activities for the kids.
