Gator's Blog: Trouble In Auburn Hills

This Pistons' situation is quite disturbing. What was once the "Going to Work" group that won several Conference Championships and an NBA Championship has turned into an embarrassment of "Going to Pout"? It's stomach-turning for fans that live and die for this team to watch them morph into a group of petulant millionaires, who refuse to give forth effort.

If they have a beef with the coach, take it up with the coach, but do it professionally. Have a closed door meeting and yell all you want, but do it away from your teammates so you don't undermine the coach's authority. That's not what's happened here though; because the ultimate plan is seemingly to do just that, undermine the coach.

Kuester doesn't get the free pass here; no doubt he shares some of the blame in the lack of communication department. It takes two to have a discussion. What has become most bothersome to me however is that Joe Dumars has said nothing? This is something that should have been handled months ago. If Kuester and Rip aren't getting along, like a couple of kids, then the adult needs to step in and set everyone straight. Play the mediator and work towards a solution. Instead, it's now spiraled way out of control to the point of being the most dysfunctional team we've seen in quite a while, that includes the 0-16 Lions by the way.

What happens next is the big question, who stays and who goes? My guess is that when the team is finally sold, there won't be many survivors and that includes the GM, Coach, and former All-Star players. Then again, the league itself may not survive as a long labor dispute seems inevitable.
