Gator's Blog: The Return Of Maggs

Magglio Ordonez comes back to the Tigers lineup this week and the big question is, where will he fit in? Throughout his career, he's been a number 3 hitter and one of the better hitters in baseball. He's a guy who deserves respect for being a professional hitter and a multiple All-Star selection. The respect is there, but that doesn't mean he should be handed the coveted number 3 slot.

Brennan Boesch has done a fine job in Magglio's stead and seems to have found his power stroke as well. My thought is that Boesch should continue to hit in the 3 hole as long as he continues to be productive, regardless how Magglio hits the rest of the way. My reasoning is that Boesch runs better and with his wheels he's more likely to score on hits from run producers like Miggy and V-mart. Let Maggs provide more stability in the bottom half of the lineup to balance things out. One thing's for sure, we're all rooting for him to find his stroke and help the Tigers become the American League Central Division Champions!
