Forum To Feature Discussion Of Detroit Ballot Proposals

DETROIT (AP) — City Council President Brenda Jones and a representative from Mayor Mike Duggan's office are expected to attend a forum to discuss two ballot proposals created to give residents greater input in neighborhood development projects.

The forum is part of the annual ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Rising Summit Saturday at the Wayne County Community College district in downtown Detroit.

The proposals are structured differently in terms of how the community will be involved if developments reach a certain financial threshold. Residents will vote on them in Tuesday's general election.

ARISE Detroit! Executive Director Luther Keith says the forum is intended to "get the facts to residents to make their own decisions on election day."

The summit begins at 8 a.m. and is free to the public.
