Ford Orders Two Recalls

Ford announcing two separate recalls, involving nearly forty thousand vehicles.

"We are voluntarily recalling 25 thousand 2010 Rangers for possible fuel oders or leaks from a fuel line in the engine compartment," said Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood.  "The line is located on the cold side of the engine, so the leak would not result in fuel contact with the hot part of the engine."

What that makes a fire unlikely, Sherwood says there is still an increased risk, and that's why they are recalling the Rangers.

A seprate recall involves about 14 thousand 2011 Ford F-Series pickups, and Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers.  They were already recalled, but Ford wants dealers to have another look at them, because there could be some issues with the original inspections.

In both recalls, Sherwood says, there have been no real world problems.

"We are absolutely committed to safety and want to make sure we're taking care of our customers.  So we are issuing these actions today."

Owners of the effected vehicles will get notices from Ford with specific instructions on how to get their vehicles inspected and repaired.
