Flint Firm's 'Smartlamp' Tops Kickstarter Funding Goal In Just 3 Days
FLINT (WWJ) -- A wireless app-controlled "smartlamp" called the Lava Ion has met its Kickstarter crowdfunding goal of $20,000 in just three days.
The campaign, which has reached $25,000, is running until May 1 at http://kck.st/ObalXQ.
"Ion is a mood light for the 21st century," said CEO and founder Billy Lindeman. "Ion features wireless app control, a touch sensitive body, and a microphone for music detection. It is the most advanced mood lamp in the world."
The lamp is 12 inches tall with an anodized aluminum and acrylic body.
Ion is outfitted with 40 multi-color LEDs, enabling it to display intricate animations that its creators call moods. Users can customize different features of the animations through a mobile phone application. It also features music enabled moods that respond to sounds picked up from the microphone as well as the ability to display notifications from your smartphone or tablet.
"Other smart lighting products such as Phillips Hue and Lifx have focused on replacing light bulbs, but we're focusing on building a fully integrated light show for your living room or desk," Lindeman said.
Ion is available on Kickstarter at http://kck.st/ObalXQ for $199 until May 1.
Lava, http://lava.io, was founded by Billy Lindeman and Eric Barch in 2012 while they were attending Kettering University. Lava specializes in Bluetooth low-energy connectivity and app enabled products.
