Shooting on Detroit's east side leaves 1 person dead, another seriously injured

An individual is in custody after a person was killed and another was seriously injured in a shooting on Detroit's east side Friday night, according to police.

Investigators say the incident happened on the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Police have identified both people shot as females, though their exact ages have yet to be disclosed. 

According to officials, one of the females died from her injuries and the other was in critical condition on Saturday morning.

Police took a person into custody in connection with the incident on Saturday morning.

Details about what led to Friday night's shooting also have yet to be disclosed by officials.

Around five hours earlier, four people, including a 10-year-old child, were injured in a drive-by shooting on the east side of the city. Police said it happened on the 3700 block of Haverhill Street, around a mile southeast of the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue. Information regarding a suspect wasn't immediately released.
