Farmington Hills Woman Wins 'What's Beautiful' Competition

FARMINGTON HILLS (CBS Detroit) Kacey Cummings, 21, from Farmington Hills was named one of the four winners in Under Armours 'What's Beautiful' competition, an event designed to encourage woman to set athletic goals and challenge themselves to meet or exceed them.

The ten-week online competition pushed woman to complete 19 Under Armour fitness challenges.  The participants were able to post progress videos and photos along with keep diaries as they completed the challenges.

Cummings was one of the most inspirational of all the competitor, organizers said.  She learned that another community member named Whitney had been seriously injured, and was unable to continue her participation in the 'What's Beautiful' challenge.   After learning this, Cummings was inspired to create a 'Team Whitney' campaign, where she encouraged woman to show their support for Whitney by completing her challenges.

Cummings competition profile says that she will "inspire female athletes to try new things and get out of their comfort zone."  Videos posted to her page show her participating in various gymnastics, water skiing, and strength training among other activities.

She recently completed her career as a collegiate diver and as one of her challenges developed a strength and conditioning program and a morning workout schedule for fellow divers in her school's program.

"My goal is to help these ladies final on both boards at the Horizon League Conference Meet and help them gain strength and confidence on that journey. So although it might look like I'm finished with diving, I still have work to do," Cummings wrote in her Under Armour blog.

She also perfected a surfing handstand, hiked 6.5 miles through Painted Rocks in the Upper Peninsula, learned to walk a tightrope and backflip off it, skiied, surfed, and more.

Over the next year, Cummings will become one of the new faces of Under Armour Woman along with the three other competition winners.  She wins a year-long Under Armour sponsorship, winning access to special events, personal celebrity trainers and free Under Armour gear.
