Faking The News Will Bite You In The Butt

By: Sara

What do you do when the wicked storm you are reporting on decides to disappear? You go into low tech fake it mode! That is exactly the call a Romanian weatherman made when while covering a story about heavy winds along the Black Sea coast. When the reporter got to the scene, the winds were gusting at more than 60 mph. Unfortunately, by the time he was expected to go live the winds had died down. Production assistant to the rescue! Lucas and Spielberg have to be jealous of this "kicking the sand" technique!

The reporter tried to paint the scene and told viewers, "The wind blows with incredible power; there are moments when it is impossible to stand up here. The wind blows the sand at over 60 km per hour. It blew away the beach umbrellas and the tourists had to leave in a hurry." Everything would have been fine if the camera guy hadn't decided to pan too far to the right and reveal the super duper special effect.

Even though the reporter and the assistant have become a laughing stock on the internet, the TV station has not fired the pair and they claim the "sand storm" wasn't meant to fool viewers.
