More Presentations, Speakers Added To 1DevDay; Time Short On Early Bird Tickets: The fourth annual 1DevDay Software Developer Conference will be in the Cobo Center on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and free parking will be provided. More at 1DevDay is the longest running and largest conference dedicated to Michigan's software developers. Each autumn, programmers, app developers, software developers and software architects from across the state meet to network, learn and share knowledge. This year the event will be at Cobo Center in the reawakening Downtown Detroit.  It is held on a Saturday to prevent interfering with attendee work schedules, and kept to one day to reduce travel expenses. Visiting us will be the author of the Passionate Programmer, LivingSocial's senior vice president of technology, Chad Fowler, who will present a keynote titled "Self Engineering." Also, the sometimes controversial but always enlightening, software  development luminary Ted Neward, who will be presenting a Keynote, Iconoclasm. The event will consist of over 20 sessions. Valassis Offers 'Directions in Digital' Webcast Sept. 27: Livonia-based Valassis (NYSE: VCI) announced Monday that it will host a free Webcast from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, Sept. 27 aimed at helping marketers effectively navigate the rapidly evolving media landscape. A panel of Valassis digital experts will share knowledge and key insights to address the challenges marketers must overcome to drive ROI for their brands. The State of the Art for Virtualization and Cloud Professionals: Merit Network, in partnership with the Merit Community Supporters, will hold its 2012 Virtualization Retreat, titled "The State of the Art for Virtualization and Cloud Professionals," on Oct. 18. The retreat provides a 360-degree view of the virtualization industry, allowing virtualization specialists, chief technologists and IT executives the chance to review their progress against industry trends and set a course for continued operational improvement through virtualization.
