Merit Network Sets Security Officer Classes: Merit Professional Learning and the Michigan Cyber Range will present Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO) training. The course prepares and certifies you to analyze an organization's information security threats and risks, and to design a security program to mitigate them. CISSO will be offered in Ann Arbor Sept. 16-20 with instructor Kevin Henry. It will also be offered online Aug. 12-16 and Nov. 11-15. CISSO addresses the broad range of industry best practices, knowledge and skills expected of a security leader. You will learn both the theory and the requirements for practical implementation of core security concepts, practices, monitoring and compliance. The CISSO course is designed for a forward-thinking security professional or consultant who manages or plays a key role in an organization's information security department. Whether you are a security officer, a business analyst, an IT auditor or are responsible for the management of an information security team, the CISSO course is an ideal way to increase your knowledge, expertise and skill. The course prepares you for the certification exam through Mile2, which is aligned with the ISO27001, NIST & 2012 CISSP/CBK objectives. The training curriculum for this course is developed and provided by Mile2, a developer and provider of vendor-neutral professional certifications for the cyber security industry. The price of the course is $2,400 for Merit member organizations, $2,700 for organizations affiliated with the Great Plains Network, NCREN, NYSERNet or WiscNet, and $3,000 for the general public. Group rates are available. For more information, please contact cyberrange@merit.edu. More at www.merit.edu/cyberrange.
