Enkive Releases Version 1.2 Of Its Email Archiving and E-discovery Software
ANN ARBOR -- Enkive LLC announced the release of version 1.2 of its Enkive Community Edition software.
The company said the new version includes two major features and several other "smaller enhancements."
The first major feature is a new statistics engine and new statistics views in Enkive's administration UI. The new UI offers a graphical view of archive volume, workload, and other statistics to assist the enterprise in understanding the volume and growth of the archive in terms of database size, messages, and attachments.
The second new feature provides end users IMAP access to the archive. This frequently requested feature augments the web-based access and enables end users to directly browse their own email, using any IMAP-enabled email client.
"The new IMAP access capability has been requested by several users of the Enkive. We are very pleased to make it available this year," said Elizabeth Ziph, managing partner of Enkive, LLC. "Email today, represents much of an employees' work product and often their entire record of customer interaction. Such a mine of business intelligence should be harvested, not let go fallow," she added.

Enkive was first released in November 2010. It captures emails immediately as they are being sent or received, to ensure that a complete record is kept even when a user deletes an email. It reduces storage costs by de-duplicating redundant emails and reducing end user email storage requirements. Searches can be conducted on the main body, as well any all email attachments. Enkive also provides organizations with easy capability for search and recovery of emails, and ability to audit the uses of the archive, thus helping them address compliance with laws and regulations, as well as litigation support, to ease the burden of e-discovery for legal and regulatory compliance. With the on-premise version of Enkive, the enterprise remains in control of responses to litigation requests.
Enkive is an open source system. It interoperates with open source email systems as well as Microsoft Exchange 2007 & 2010 and Gmail. It can also archive Domino's Mbox formatted, exported email. The Community Edition is free to download. The Enterprise Edition offers a flexible and cost competitive suite of support, SLA, and professional services options. Enkive CE has seen over 10,000 downloads since 2010.
