Empty Box Case Against Funeral Director Will Go To Trial

MUSKEGON (AP) -- A funeral director accused of misleading a family into believing he had buried a woman's cremated remains is taking his case to trial in western Michigan.

Thomas Clock III waived a hearing Monday that would have determined if there was enough evidence against him.

Muskegon County investigators say he buried an empty box in December - not the cremated remains of Helen Anthony. The Muskegon Chronicle says her remains were found in his van while he was in a hospital.

In a separate case, Clock is accused of deceiving the parents of a baby boy into believing he had buried the child's ashes earlier in 2015.

He was president of Clock Funeral Home in White Lake, which is now closed.
