Michigan point guard Elliot Cadeau taken off team bus, evaluated for allergic reaction

Michigan junior point guard Elliot Cadeau was taken off a team bus Wednesday afternoon before the team departed for Indianapolis and evaluated for an allergic reaction, university officials said.

CBS News Detroit was the only TV station at the team send-off when the situation unfolded. Cadeau was taken out to and loaded onto an ambulance while on a stretcher.

"Before the team departed the Player Development Center today, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate," a university spokesperson said. "The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today."

Cadeau is in his first season with the Wolverines after transferring from North Carolina last spring. The point guard ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 10.2 points per game and is the team's assists leader with an average of 5.8 per contest. Cadeau scored eight points and posted 10 assists in Michigan's 95-62 win over Tennessee in the Elite Eight.

Michigan (35-3) will face Arizona (36-2) Saturday night in Indianapolis. The Wolverines are eyeing their second national championship and first since 1989.

The Wolverines are making their Final Four appearance since falling to Villanova in the 2018 national championship game. It's Michigan's third Final Four appearance since 2013. The Wolverines have two national runner-up finishes in that time span.

Tipoff is 8:49 p.m. Saturday.
