DREAM Act

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives passed the DREAM Act, which would allow children brought to the U.S. as undocumented aliens to apply for a path to citizenship if they graduated high school, then attended college or served in the military.

The bill would make it easier for children from immigrant households to attend college, and would reward them for educational persistence and national service. Right now, many undocumented immigrant high school students drop out of high school to work, since they have no chance of enrolling in college if they do graduate. The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill as well.
