Dow Closes With Biggest Gain In Nearly 2 Weeks

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Dow closing with its biggest gain in nearly two weeks.

Investors were picking up beaten-down stocks Tuesday after fears that the U.S. would slip into a recession pounded the market over the last month.

Adam Johnson, a marketing reporter from Bloomberg TV, says there comes a point in which stocks just get cheap.

Johnson says that Ford, GM, Hewlett Packard as well as Bank of America are seeing trading well above earnings ... and that stocks are trading at about half the price of market as a whole.

The Dow dipped about 60 points shortly after the quake hit the East Coast in the early afternoon, but recovered within minutes.
