Don't Like The Weather? Wait Five Minutes...
"If you don't like the weather," Traffic Reporter Randy Bhirdo says, "Wait five minutes and it will change." He told me this when I first moved to Detroit. I didn't really understand the phrase during the months of January to March. Then April and May creeped its way in. Now, I know what Randy meant.
We've been joking saying we're going to recreate Noah's Ark due to all this rain. The joke is no longer funny since this Spring season is heading to the record books, according to Meteorologist Lori Pinson.
When it rains here, it pours! I am shocked how much the sky can open up, and buckets of water come crashing down. The type of storms we've been experiencing lately is something that is seen a couple times a year in my home state of New Jersey.
Monday, Metro Detroit was hit with some awful weather. Trees were knocked down. Power outages occurred. It was a mess.
What scares me the most? Tornadoes. When you think of twisters, you think of places like Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, etc. Prior to moving to Michigan, I had no idea that the Great Lakes State gets hit by these destructive movements.
Who am I kidding though?
I don't like thunder and lightning storms either.
Neither does my dog, Nala.
She is 10 years old and still isn't used to Mother Nature's wrath.
Thunder and lightning scares her so much, she crawls up into a corner or hides in the closet.
It's funny how pets can act like children sometimes.
As you see in the photo, Nala feels safer during a storm, curled up by the wall.
My question is... When does the weather get fabulous? June? July? August? How short is the Summer season? How can we bribe Mother Nature?
