DNR Buying 2000 Acres In UP From Power Company

DETROIT (AP) - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is buying about 2,000 acres of Upper Peninsula land to create a new recreation area along the Menominee River.

The DNR announced Tuesday it will buy the acreage in Menominee and Dickinson counties for $2.5 million from Wisconsin Electric Power Co.

The acreage features whitewater rapids, waterfalls and scenic, rocky gorges... and will be open to the public.
