Warm, springlike temperatures for Detroit Tigers Opening Day at Comerica Park

It's almost time to grab a hot dog, and a cool beverage, and enjoy the crack of the bat at Comerica Park.

Opening Day in Detroit is always eventful, whether it's cold or not.

This year, we're heading for warmth with wind and even some sunshine breaking through the clouds.

Our forecast is for 69 degrees at 1:10 p.m. with winds out of the west-southwest at 15-20 mph and partly to mostly cloudy skies.

But this isn't always the case.

When looking at weather data for opening day in the city, the closest climate location is Detroit City Airport, but not all data for a day syncs up perfectly.

Looking back at the past 10 years of Opening Days, we found that clouds are common along with wind (over 15 mph), but temperatures vary.

The one year that stands out, of course, is 2020, when the COVID pandemic pushed opening day back to the end of July.

Without that outlier year, temperatures range from the low 30s all the way to the upper 50s, with this year likely being the warmest in a decade at first pitch.
