Detroit Seeking Angels' Night Volunteers

DETROIT (WWJ) - Roughly 50,000 volunteers already, but there's always room for more, in the upcoming Angels' Night campaign in Detroit. Fire Commissioner Donald Austin says as long as you're willing to donate a few hours to help stop Halloween arsonists, it doesn't matter where you live or work.

"Even if you're visiting Detroit and you hear my voice and you're interested," Austin told WWJ Newsradio 950. "All those that live, work, and recreate in the city of Detroit, we would appreciate their efforts in helping us make this a successful outcome and we will not turn anyone down."

This year's theme is "Watch Your Block," a push to get residents to turn on porch lights and patrol the streets immediately surrounding their homes.

To volunteer for Detroit's Angels' Night Campaign, call 313-224-3450, or visit AngelsNight.org.
